Haygrove Growing Systems seek a dynamic Operations Financial Manager to join their Exco and lead a compact, highly skilled financial function while driving commercial performance, cost discipline, and operational decision-making. The Operations Financial Manager will be responsible for ensuring compliance with Group Finance objectives, translating them into efficient operational business processes and managing a small team. The ideal candidate is a finance professional who can balance hands-on financial operations with strong commercial insight and who is comfortable proactively engaging with internal and external stakeholders to unlock value. This role suits a commercially minded financial leader who enjoys liaising with the business, which services customers Southern Africa, forward as much as producing the numbers.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and execute all financial operations, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and compliance.
- Provide clear monthly and quarterly financial insights to Exco and guide commercial decision-making.
- Lead the procurement function and ensure processes adhere to company policies and internal controls.
- Drive cost analysis, cost-control improvements, pricing, margin management, and investment strategy to support profitability.
- Analyse cost drivers, implement efficiency initiatives, and identify opportunities for operational savings across the business.
- Manage cashflow, working capital, debtors, and financial risk.
- Ensure strong internal controls and full compliance with tax and statutory regulations.
- Coordinate annual audits, manage capex, and maintain sound financial governance.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to enhance operational performance, efficiency, and profitability.
- Support import/export activities by ensuring optimum financial processes, compliance, and cost optimisation along the supply chain.
- Pro-actively engage with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment, enhance collaboration and secure the best possible commercial value for the organisation.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years’ finance experience in a manufacturing/agricultural environment.
- Exposure to Sub-Saharan African markets is highly advantageous.
- Strong understanding of import/export processes, duties, documentation, and related financial controls.
- 3+ years’ team management experience.
- Demonstrated capability in financial analysis, reporting, budgeting, and commercial modelling.
- Experience in cost analysis, cost-control improvements, pricing, margin optimisation, and investment evaluation.
- Proficient in Navision or similar (advantageous) and advanced Excel.
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics; CPA or similar qualification advantageous.
- Strong communication, negotiation, leadership, and decision-making skills.
